"Excel Coatings India, founded by my father Ravi, initially focused on providing heat-resistant coatings for textile industries. Recognizing growth opportunities, I joined the company, and we transformed the original powder-based coating into a paint, making us the first to do so. This innovation allowed us to market directly to consumers, resulting in positive feedback and significant growth in the domestic and export markets. Today, we continue to lead in providing advanced coating solutions and expanding its global presence", shares Vidhyaprakash M R, Proprietor.
Eco-Friendly Coatings
Excel Coatings specializes in advanced heat management solutions for buildings. The key
products include heat-reflective roof coating, which keeps interiors up to 10 degrees Celsius cooler during summer, heat reflective glass coating, a transparent alternative to window film, which allows full light penetration while blocking 80–85 percent of infrared rays, reducing heat without obstructing the view, making it a superior alternative to traditional window films. The company also offers building insulation coatings for areas where reflective coatings aren't appropriate.
In addition to High SRI Cool Roof Paint, they also offer EXCEL StayCool -Transparent Heat reflective coating for glass, Waterproofing solutions like EXCEL AquaSeal, Excel AquaFlex, Excel NanoSeal & other customized functional nano coatings for various industries. “We designed our coatings to endure for seven years, and we have observed their reliability through 2-3 cycles. Unlike standard reflective coatings, ours combine reflective and insulation properties, with nanofiber reinforcement for superior waterproofing. This unique combination ensures that even with dust accumulation, which is common in India, the coating maintains its efficiency in reducing heat entry. This durability and consistent performance give us a competitive edge and the highest market share", says Vidhyaprakash.
Moreover, the company's sustainability practices distinguish it within the industry. Prioritizing local sourcing reduces transportation emissions and supports nearby suppliers. Materials are natural and organic, obviating the need for complex wastewater treatment. With certifications from regulatory bodies like ISO and GRIHA, and progress towards global eco-labelling, the company's eco-friendly products are preferred by customers for their environmental benefits and regulatory compliance.
Lastly, the company ensures quality through rigorous batch testing and sourcing materials from reputable suppliers, including top rated German and Indian companies. The semi-automatic manufacturing plant uses a unique two-stage cold process to preserve raw material properties. Specialized machinery supports the production of heat reflective and waterproof coatings. The manufacturing team consists of 6–8 members with a capacity of 2000– 2500 liters per day. Additionally, a 13-member application team manages large-scale projects across India. The company's marketing network spans residential and US markets, with dealers and distributors in eight states, and plans for further expansion.
"We are expanding our product range into niche sectors and establishing an R&D unit alongside a small manufacturing setup for nanoparticles. This initiative aims to support the development of new products and cater to other markets. Additionally, we are exploring OEM manufacturing opportunities. These steps reflect our commitment to innovation and growth in the industry", concludes Vidhyaprakash.
