The biggest challenge in eliminating curable blindness is finding hidden patients from the nook and crannies of the rural hinterlands. They need more finances, awareness about the restoration of vision, and easy access to eye care in their geographies. Believing in the mantra of working where it matters, Akhand Jyoti has been working relentlessly for the last 14 years in the Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh region to reach more people who have blindness.

Affordable, Accessible & Sustainable Eyecare
Akhand Jyoti offers holistic eye care services, including – cataracts, glaucoma, cornea, retina, pediatric eye care, low vision, refraction, and dispensing of custom eyewear. Screening over 5,39,000 patients annually, Akhand Jyoti has a total of 27 vision centers spread all over Bihar and plans to open 160 such centers by 2030.
Technology such as connecting with patients through SMS, Whatsapp, phone calls, and the dedicated Tele Eye Health Department has dramatically helped its patient with easy access to eye care. Akhand Jyoti is building the 1st of its kind Centre of Excellence in eye care in a rural setup in Bihar, which will be live by October 2023. It has ISO 9001:2015 certification for the Management, Prevention, Investigation, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Ophthalmic Diseases, accredited by International Corporate Codes. A total of 355 girls are at various stages between education and employment under the 'Football to Eyeball' rural girls’ education, skilling employment, and empowerment programme.
A dedicated team of senior consultants having experience of more than 50,000 surgeries work with junior consultants; all are groomed to harness the core values of compassion, respect, commitment, and teamwork, which go a long way in providing a warm and personal touch to every patient. Akhand Jyoti has been awarded the 'Shri Dharamsey Nensey Oman Award' in recognition for outstanding high quality, high volume comprehensive eye care service delivery in 2019 and GuideStar India’s Advanced Level - Gold Certification for maintaining a high level of accountability and adopting reasonable governance procedures.
