The Jimny 5-door SUV 'Made in India' made its appearance in Japan, marking a significant milestone for Maruti Suzuki since it will be the brand's second-highest export car from this company during the fiscal year 2024-25.

Manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram facility, the Jimny 5-door carries a strong legacy as a global off-roader. It is currently exported to nearly 100 countries and now enters Japan, the home market of Suzuki Motor Corporation. This marks the second SUV from Maruti Suzuki, after the Fronx, to be supplied to Japan this fiscal year.

Maruti Suzuki Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchisaid, "The launch of the 'Made in India' Jimny 5-door in Japan is a testament to the global level of excellence in our manufacturing capability. After its success in markets like Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, we are confident it will delight Japanese customers. The export of Jimny reaffirms our commitment to 'Make-in-India for the world".

The Jimny has been a global success, with Suzuki selling over 3.5 million units across 199 countries and regions. While the 3-door Jimny was already available in Japan, the new 5-door version is expected to expand its appeal.

With India as the production base for the Jimny 5-door, Suzuki aims to leverage Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing expertise to cater to the growing global demand for the model.

Maruti Suzuki has emerged as India's largest passenger vehicle exporter, having exported more than 3.23 lakh vehicles to nearly 100 countries in 2024 alone. The company has a 43.5% share of India's total passenger vehicle exports this year. The Fronx, which was launched in Japan in August 2024, has already received an encouraging market response.

With the Jimny 5-door finally entering the Japanese market, Maruti Suzuki has further strengthened its position in the global automobile sector.
